Oliver Leitner is a junior in Yale College majoring in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry (MB&B) with a certificate in Statistics and Data Science. He has had a passion for scientific research and the environment since high school when he conducted numerous projects on making solar power and distillation scalable, which won him 2nd and 4th place awards at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair and a Fellowship from the Davidson Institute. He has further pursued his passion for scientific research by interning in the Saltzman lab at Yale’s Biomedical Engineering department through the First-year Summer Research Fellowship in 2019 and now through working for the CC Lab. An avid violinist as well, he has participated in multiple summer music festivals in Germany and Aspen, among others, and has appeared as a soloist with the Reno Philharmonic, Susanville Symphony Orchestra, and on National Public Radio’s From the Top (show 345). At Yale, he is the Co-Leader of the Yale Symphony Orchestra, regularly performs chamber music, and studies with Wendy Sharp at the Yale School of Music.
