Chiara Chung-Halpern is currently a senior at Yale College studying Earth and Planetary Sciences, as well as Energy Studies. Chiara’s interest in earth sciences stemmed from spending a summer in high school working for the Youth Conservation Corps at Yellowstone National Park. Chiara is primarily interested in the ways that geology and Earth’s interior processes can be utilized to combat large scale issues such as climate change. Chiara also conducts research in the Yale Paleomagnetic Laboratory, focusing on reconstructing the Rodinia Supercontinent. At Yale, Chiara is a member of the Yale Karate Team (she was selected to represent the USA in the 2020 Karate World Championships), the Yale Movement Dance Group, the Yale Wushu Team, and the Davenport Pops Orchestra. In her free time, Chiara enjoys anything related to being outdoors including camping, hiking, and appreciating the fascinating geology of Connecticut.
